Never been to Cuba? Come to Canterbury instead! The Cuban in Canterbury offers a vibrant slice of Cuba's atmosphere and cuisine to this historic cathedral city. The restaurant itself is colourfully decorated and uses its wooden floors and exposed brickwork to great effect. Cuban music plays in the background while you choose from the menu. The menu offers a selection of tapas, including plantain crisps and pardon peppers, selection of main courses, including Spanish mussels with chorizo and duck breast with fresh herb mojo and desserts such as crème cabana. There is a wine list, but you might prefer to indulge in one of the region's famous cocktails. Three courses here cost an average of £30 per person - just be careful when you ask the waiter for a salsa!

In my opinion and in that of the Curry Club of Great britain this is one of the best indian restaurants in the UK, if you love curry then you'll love this place. Friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere

This was once owned by Ralph Forte, cousin of the great Rocco of Forte Hotels London. Now owned and run by a Sicilian Family. If you never had the chance to go to Italy you do not need to - just pop in for some great pasta and let the Chianti do the rest.

Cafe de Sole

Once called the Old Wool-store, this former wool-store is now a plush restaurant offering river side dining with a car-park (always full) on its door step. It had a rough patch, but I have since heard some good reports.

A Thai Restaurant, as the name may suggest, good for a quick lunch. Try the Pad Thai Chicken, but not the chicken feet
Zizzi (Partner venue for Tours and Meals)

Worth a peek if only to see inside one of the oldest building in the city dating back to before the Norman conquest with carvings and fine plasterwork ceilings. Very nice garden in the summer; sit outside in comfort.
Boho (Canterbury) Ltd
27, High St, Canterbury, Kent CT1 2AZ
Another really relaxed and unusual café with a student feel to it with an eclectic mix of styles, with food from all over the globe. I often have the Souvlaki with Tzatziki washed down with a glass of rich house red.
Ask Canterbury *(Partner Venue)

A chain, but a great location in both summer and winter.
Super Noodles Ltd
87-88, Northgate, Canterbury, Kent CT1 1BA
I always reckon that the best test for a speciality restaurant is how full of the population you cater for you are. This is always full of the local Chinese populace, so for my money this has to be the best value student meal house in town.
7, Longmarket, Canterbury, Kent CT1 2JS
You may not have been to a Wagamama before but just remember not to take your coat off as you will need it to cushion yourself with the very hard benches in here. It feels a bit like being back at school, and there seems to be a pressure on every diner to finish so they can re-lay your table and get the next person in.
