Never been to Cuba? Come to Canterbury instead! The Cuban in Canterbury offers a vibrant slice of Cuba's atmosphere and cuisine to this historic cathedral city. The restaurant itself is colourfully decorated and uses its wooden floors and exposed brickwork to great effect. Cuban music plays in the background while you choose from the menu. The menu offers a selection of tapas, including plantain crisps and pardon peppers, selection of main courses, including Spanish mussels with chorizo and duck breast with fresh herb mojo and desserts such as crème cabana. There is a wine list, but you might prefer to indulge in one of the region's famous cocktails. Three courses here cost an average of £30 per person - just be careful when you ask the waiter for a salsa!

I always reckon that the best test for a speciality restaurant is how full of the population you cater for you are. This is always full of the local Chinese populace, so for my money this has to be the best value student meal house in town.

You may not have been to a Wagamama before but just remember not to take your coat off as you will need it to cushion yourself with the very hard benches in here. It feels a bit like being back at school, and there seems to be a pressure on every diner to finish so they can re-lay your table and get the next person in.
