Paying on arrival is fine - on particularly busy nights such as Halloween weekend we request that you try to book in advance via the tickets page. If you book online you will receive a confirmation email of your booking and a payment confirmation from Pay Pal. Please ensure you bring the payment confirmation with you as proof of purchase.

When I clicked the pay button nothing seemed to happen so I clicked it twice, will I be charged twice?

The simple answer is yes. As stated on the tickets page, you must only click the payment button once only. Paypal is a reliable payment system and payments are deducted immediately from your account, the email confirming this is will be sent within 10 seconds of clicking the button. Please allow 15 seconds before chacking your email account for your puchase confirmation email - be sure to check your spam blocker too as it may be located there. Some people have continued clicking, they have paid up to 3 times. Your card will be debited, records of payments are checked on a daily basis, if you have been charged twice in clear condradiction of the advice stated in RED on the tickets page you will not be entitled to a refund for any sums overpaid. I have a group of 9 adults but want a spearate tour, can I get a group discount and can I have a private tour?

Whilst I can offer a private tour, I am unable to offer a group discount to your party, however I can offer discounts at local restaurants as a rider and book the table for you too. Have a look at our tour and meal packages and see which restaurant offers what you are looking for. Tours and meals start from £35 pp, and include a Ghost Tour and a 3 course meal (but do not include alcoholic drinks or coffee)

If we have a group of less than 15 can we still get a group rate?

You may in exceptional circumstances be offered a group rate but it will not be the full group discount offered to groups of 15 or more.

I have a Birthday party for my 13 year old coming up, is the tour suitable for young people?

I have been conducting tours for over 20 years and have had many groups of youngsters, all have said how much they have enjoyed it. If you have a group of 15 or more please call our information line on 0845 519 0267 and speak to our bookings unit. We can also include a meal after the tour, if required. We have access to a variety of venues all of chich are happy to cater for a younger audience with advanced notice.

To get the best from the tour it is advisiable to book a special tour just for you and your party otherwise you run the risk of joining a public tour and the stories may be a little too complex for younger minds to digest. I am always happy to discuss you requirements, just call and we will give you a party to remember for all the right reasons.

Do we go inside buildings on the tour?

Sadly, due to the nature of Public Liablity and other risks, we no longer take people inside the buildings on the tour. It is a walking tour and there will be some standing around and listening to the stories - all based on my own experiences and the history of the city.

What happens if I have booked a tour and paid but it is raining?

I never cancell for rain - as I like to say - 'it goes right through a ghost', although rain is a problem for my clients, in the event of a torrential downpour there are always places we can wait untill it passes over. If it loooks like it is going to rain, bring a brolly and wrap up against the cold. In the 20 years I have been trading I have conducted the tour in snow, ice, heavy rain and thunder and lightneing. The show must go on!

What are the ages of Children etc?

Children are regarded as 5-15 years - under 5's are free

Concessions are full-time students with a valid Student ID and Pensioners (i.e. Those Collecting a state pension - in the UK currently this is Men 65yrs + and Women 60+)

Is the tour suitable for wheelchair access?

Yes - the tour is all on city streets - and is fully acessable to wheelchair users, there are some areas with cobbled ground but I will always be there to help if required.

I have a group of 89 children and 10 adults, can you accomodate such a large group?

Yes, we would not take them all in one group, but would split them into 2 smaller groups, both would leave at the same time but would take differing routes but both would end at a similar location. I have several staff who can help me conduct large groups. A deposit of 50% is required to secure the group and the balance must be paid 7 days prior to the tour. Remember if you have a group call our booking line on 0845 519 0267 and speak to our bookings unit, who can give you directions and options for your party.

I represent a UK School, and wish to join your tour but have a very tight budget can you offer a special low price for us?

I am always happy to support the UK Educational establishments, and I do have a special rate for UK Schools, please call 0845 519 0267 for more information as prices vary year on year.

I run a charity supporting carers of people with disabilities can your tour help with fundraising?

Yes, I have produced a number of fundraising packages to help charities raise awareness, and funds. I have worked with the NSPCC, NCDL (Dogs Trust), RSPCA, Friends of the Marlowe etc.

In the past we have offered a discount rate and a split of the proceeds, in the case of the Friends of the Marlowe, we provided a bespoke tour and a meal for £25 per person and after conducting 5 tours we raised over £1000 for the Charity. The feedback was very positive and have since used the formula for other charitable events.

During Halloween 2011, we successfully raised funds for Canterbury Pilgrims Hospice, Ashford Town Cricket Club, and The Westgate Community Hall

As a charity I would ask for joint publicity of my tour and will draft a news release for you and also make the tour available to the general public so they can support you too.

Please call 0845 519 0267 and let us help you and your charity acheive your goals, and have some fun whilst doing it.

Is the tour available in other European Languages?

I can offer the tours in Dutch, French, and Italian as well as English. We have in the past played host to anumber of language schools who have requested other langauges, I (John Hippisley) speak 8 languages to a varying degree of fluency, and am more than happy to discuss. However special language tours costs a bit more as I have to pay for the extra costs involved hence the discounts are not as big as single language English tours.

All Single language tours must be booked at least 1 month prior and must be paid in full as with other tours, and are only vailable for groups of 20 or more due to the costs involved.

To book a single language tour please call 0845 519 0267 and speak to our bookings unit.

Slight cost rise. Due to increased handing charges by PayPal I have had to increase from March 1st 2012, the selling price of my tickets online, otherwise I lose 3.5% per sale. Whilst Inflation is stagnating my costs have increased year on year. Whilst in the past I was happy to take extra business via the web, I have a right to cover my costs, hence the online prices will rise by aprox 3.5% per transaction as deatiled below.
